My name is Felie Marie Magbanua, a software developer based in Los Angeles, CA.
I’m a Gen Y who lived through the world’s transition from analog to digital.
My earliest exposure to computers were through a Nintendo Famicom where I reached master class levels of success in Galaga, Super Mario, Urban Champion and Pac-Man and Minesweeper in MS-DOS.
I was introduced to HTML and CSS during my senior year of high school. Our final project before graduation was to build a static website. Through the years, I’ve encountered a lot of HTML and CSS while working on several of my now-defunct personal blogs.
After 17 years in the facilities management and services industry, I decided to take the leap and learn more about programming.
I enrolled in a coding bootcamp which I will hopefully complete by the end of February 2023.
I am also an upcoming freshman as a computer science student. (SNHU 2026!)
While this industry is filled with valleys of despair and consecutive failures, I live for the spur-of-the-moment-ten-second wins when the code I’ve been working on for days finally works. It’s incredibly satisfying.
I understand and I fully accept that I will forever be a student in this field. This blog is also a reminder that one day, if I feel like I’ve reached the pinnacle of success in the tech world, it just means I stopped learning.
To you, the reader — whoever you may be: a newbie like me, a fellow impostor, a coding expert, a relative or friend — thank you for taking the time to visit my site.
To my fellow coders who will understand what I write about, I’ll take that as a compliment.
To the non-coding family and friends who do not understand a thing I write about, I’ll take that as a compliment as well.
Welcome!
